It’s still technically winter here in Fontana, CA, but we all know how early hot temperatures arrive in the Inland Empire. Your air conditioner has likely already seen use this year and will probably do so again in the near future. Now is the time to help get it ready for spring with a series of brush-ups and tune-ups that will help it do its best. By doing so now, your system will be ready to go when the heat starts in earnest, and help you keep those stifling summer cooling bills to a manageable level.
Schedule a Maintenance Session
We cannot recommend maintenance sessions more strongly at this time of year. A technician arrives at your home and gives your air conditioner a thorough inspection, as well as taking care of little touch-up issues like tightening loose bolts, recharging refrigerant and cleaning the dust off of key components. Not only does it let you stop any growing problems before they shut your system down, but they help the air conditioner perform more efficiently, saving you money on monthly cooling bills.
Clear the Outdoor Unit
We also recommend getting a cover for your outdoor unit, to keep twigs and leaves from falling into the vents. Regardless of whether you have one, however, you should take a could pf hours and clean off your outdoor unit, as well as moving any nearby objects to at least two feet away and trimming back any plants or weeds that might have grown too close.
Add a Filter
Most maintenance session involve changing the air filter, and if you’re not planning on a maintenance session you should definitely plan to change the filter before cooling season starts. You might also consider installing an electronic air filter, which does a more comprehensive job of filtering out dust and other particles.
