Air Conditioner Repair: 3 Signs of Problems with Your Air Conditioner

The warm temperatures are here already, and with a new air conditioning season upon us, you may be encountering some signs of problems with your system. To help you decipher signs of potential issues, our Avis Plumbing, Heat and Air experts have put together a small list of common indications that may mean trouble is brewing with your AC.

3 Signs of Problems with Your Air Conditioner

When you test your air conditioner this spring, here are 3 signs to stay aware of when your system comes on:

Abnormal Noises
The normal click and whirr of your system are part of the start-up of the system, but noises like banging, clunking, hissing, rattling, screeching and whistling aren’t. If you hear sounds from the latter group, it’s time to call an Avis Plumbing, Heating and Air Specialist.

Decrease in Air Flow
Is the air not flowing the way it should? This could indicate a few things, such as air flow blockage, a malfunctioning fan or obstruction in the ducts. A decrease in your system’s air flow can create a great deal of stress on your air conditioner that can lead to repair needs. If you are experiencing low air flow, call in an expert.

Air is Warm
Warm air is definitely not what you want for summer heat. Many times warm air coming from your air conditioner can signal that there is a refrigerant leak somewhere in the system. The refrigerant in your system is self-sustaining; therefore, low refrigerant is not a normal occurrence. Refrigerant should not be handled by anyone who hasn’t been trained, so if you suspect a refrigerant leak, schedule an appointment with your specialist.

Best Way to Manage Potential Problems? Regular Maintenance

Many of these issues can be managed when conducting regular maintenance on your AC system; they may also be prevented through regular maintenance. During an Avis Plumbing, Heating and Air maintenance service, the following will be executed:
